Visualisation tools

Our visualization application projects have one common goal; facilitate the extraction, visualization and interaction of data stored in industrial data collection systems for which we perform integration services. Our applications are not widely available, they are made to support solution integration projects we run for our customers.

Eagle Eye Project Trender

Eagle eye was our first industrial data visualisation application. This is not as flexible to use as our new tool squid but it still packs lots of functionalities.

Our goal with this application is to bring to customers a visualisation solution that can connect and present data from various sources with minimal configuration or development.  Doing so, we aim at supporting our customers to extract benefits from the information systems they already own.

Event data presentation Events need to be presented differently than time series, a new control had to be developed. This control show the documents by type on a timeline. Users can view the document properties using a contextual menu.

Squid Project

Although the Eagle Eye Project produced a good app, we wanted to increase the amount of flexibility our front end provided. We decided to start fresh with a new project: Squid

Squid lets users compose digital representations of the plant using information stored in an industrial data collection system like GE plant applications, GE historian, OSISoft PI Data Archive and Asset Framework. It is a very key component of a successful project as it is extensively used by a lot of people to view information. For this reason, it needs to be easy to use, it must provide the features the users need so they do not have to jump from app to app to perform their duty

  • We made it web to be able to run on different platforms

  • We built a composer to let the user build and save his own views out of configurable widgets

  • We built in possibilities to write back to source

The construction of a new book is achieve through the usage of widgets that are dragged and dropped on a canvas. No code is required.

Example of efficiency display with different widgets, Gauge, Bar chart, and grid. Note that the grid is interactive and let the user write data back to the data source (reason from tree, comments and value)

Example of operator view In the operator view example above, operator can manually set the machine state and the order operation state. Events are automatically generated from button actions and presented in the grid at the bottom of the view. This screen is built without any code.

ROB-EX Reporter

In an effort to speed up the analysis of ROB-EX data, we have designed and developed reporting dashboard that provides the end users with the following

  • KPI Dashboard

    • Provides quick overview of a ROB-EX site and selected resources

      • Workload

      • Operation planned to start on time

      • Order planned to deliver on time

  • Snapshot Comparison

    • The compare report is used to highlight changes between two subsequent schedule versions (snapshot version and current version), It is very useful to validate that an updated schedule in ROB-EX gets propagated correctly to the ERP,  identify changes brought by a ERP schedule import or keep track of changes performed on the Schedule since last snapshot

  • Reports are useful to extract ROB-EX data in a tabular format.

    • Deliver on time

      • Compare delivery date with scheduled order completion

    • Material lead time

      • Provides a quick review of lead time for material needed for upcoming orders

    • Operation by material

      • Useful to identify operations that use same material and possibly regroup to save on setup time

    • Order list

We plan to integrated the ROB-EX data source into our Squid project soon!
